TI has close to 20 years of experience in real-time and ultra-low-power technologies; working with customers on thousands of different applications using TI embedded processing technology. We help develop popular products such as video conferencing equipment, health and fitness equipment, intelligent appliances, automotive infotainment systems, portable navigation devices and portable medical devices, to name a few. Embedded processing is helping fuel innovative, high-growth applications for many of today’s fastest-growing markets such as the smart grid, industrial automation, communications infrastructure, renewable energy, capacitive touch, high-resolution imaging and single board computers.

Embedded processors, including MCUs, DSPs and MPUs, provide varying levels of performance, power consumption, peripherals and price, so TI offers a broad portfolio of each to meet diverse market requirements. For example, DSPs can perform mathematical computations instantaneously with a high level of precision, making them perfect for real-time processing. TI also offers MCUs that include a DSP core—or processing engine—to merge the performance synonymous with DSP and the integration inherent to MCUs. TI embedded processors can be used to process a variety of information, such as sound, images and video. In digital applications, such as high resolution video cameras and telecommunications devices, analog chips act as translators to change sound or light—"real world" signals—into the 1s and 0s of the digital world. Then, the embedded processors instantaneously compress and process these digital signals, altering and improving the signal. Analog chips on the other end translate the digital signal back into the real world so we can understand the information.

TI has a virtual dream team with its analog and embedded processing technologies. Combined, they seem to work miracles. With the right balance of performance, power and peripherals, TI’s embedded processing portfolio makes the world:

  • Smarter, enabling more data to be gathered, analyzed, shared and acted on
  • Greener, so that we are able to do more with less power that is all generated from clean, renewable resources
  • Healthier, driving lower medical costs and making quality health care less invasive and more available
  • Safer, while at home, at work or in between
  • More fun, from improving convenience to revolutionizing entertainment
