About the Job

Texas Instruments is seeking a Digital Design Manager. In this role, you will direct and guide the activities of a research or technical design function responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating digital electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment and other hardware systems. You may also evaluate final results of research and development projects to assure accomplishment of technical objectives. In addition, job functions include preparing and presenting reports outlining the outcome of technical projects and making recommendations for actions necessary to achieve desired results. As a Digital Design Manager, you may also select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

The job offers opportunity to Manage as well as to drive, define, and utilize industry leading design verification methodologies, tools, and flows to ensure that differentiated SoCs and IP meet all functional and quality specifications. You will be expected to learn the SoC/IP functionality and the system context to build comprehensive verification test plans and milestone-based schedules.  This role offers the opportunity to learn the complex SoC development process and interact with various functional teams spanning systems, design, software, and applications. Set of IPs covers Data movement IPs, interconnect, safety, security, Realtime functionality and broader infrastructure IPs to help develop Embedded Processors.

As an IP DV Manager, you will be managing and leading an IP DV team driving verification while help finding innovative solutions to customers’ problems through “out of the box thinking” to deliver highly differentiated products.  Candidates must have both good communication skills and solid digital design verification experience. IP design verification team will have a charter to verify infrastructure IP’s enabling automotive and industrial processors. You will interface with various engineering teams within Processor including SoC design, verification, validation, test, systems, SW, applications and marketing to successfully help verify new IPs from concept to design. Expertise in Data movement and bus protocols (AMBA, OCP etc) is must and knowledge of interrupt, security, safety, coherence is desirable. You will be a core member in the IP design team driving flawless execution

Job Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading and managing team of Engineers verifying IPs (infrastructure, safety, cores, security etc) for TI Processors
  • Architect, develop and drive module and system-level test strategies, performance validation, verification plans, testbenches, functional models and test cases
  • Promote and advance verification methodology of complex digital logic using C/UVM testbench for block level through full system/SOCs
  • Create, execute, enhance, and debug simulation testcases with coverage-driven, constrained-random stimulus
  • Define and implement functional coverage and drive coverage closure
  • Debug complex designs to identify root cause of problems
  • Collaborate across verification teams on reuse of components
  • May include verification of SOC in an emulation environment and post silicon verification/characterization/debug
  • Interface with 3rd party vendors to help drive delivery milestones/quality
  • Work closely with IP verification team to help build the IP verification plan, tests and support functional debugs
  • Support IP during silicon bring-up activities, test program development, customer engagement and silicon/application debug

Minimum requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in DV/Design development and relevant experience in team leadership
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field of study
  • Expertise in Data movement, SOC integration concepts, bus-protocols (AMBA i.e. AXI, CHI, AHB, APB etc) and exposure to DMA, Cache, ARM CPU cores, DDR   
  • Must know Verilog language
  • Simulation tools like NCsim, code coverage and debug tools
  • A good understanding of digital functionality and exposure to digital design methods
  • Ability to extract the DV plan and support existing design even with sparse legacy documentation
  • Familiarity with verification environments to be able to actively participate in functional debugs
  • Ability to take initiatives and drive the results working with team members across time-zones
  • Handling & owning design deliverables and schedule
  • Ability to solve problems using a systematic approach

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with SystemVerilog and VHDL
  • Knowledge of bus protocols such as AXI, CHI, AHB, APB, OCP
  • Experience with scripting languages such as TcL, Perl, and Python
  • Silicon debug experience on the automated test equipment (ATE) and bench characterization environments
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
  • Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
