Texas Instruments is seeking an Engineering Manager. This position includes a combination of engineering management duties for those overseeing multiple engineering functions (e.g., Design, Process, TE/PE, Applications). Responsibilities include directing, leading, and managing engineering activities/projects. Additionally, you may be responsible for selecting, developing, and evaluating personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. As an Engineering Manager you may also provide supervision to exempt employees or a combination of both exempt and skilled nonexempt employees.

This is a highly visible site-wide role in leading the bench and ATE labs to establish strong forward-looking strategies, solutions and infrastructure in support of accelerating NPD while maintaining operational efficiency. You’ll expand your network across multiple TI sites, ensuring Tucson is linked to the best focus and has the best support to create a world class lab organization and team. Great opportunity to lead a large team of direct reports (exempt and non-exempt) and become an even better leader than you are today. The Lab Manager will collaborate with engineering users and business leaders when implementing processes, tools, equipment infrastructure, procedural changes and personnel access. You will be on the Tucson site LT and responsible for managing the lab environment, budget and assets associated with the lab. Your work will directly impact the profitability of TI each year – a cool opportunity to be part of a difference-making team beyond 1 team or PL.
- Enable and set strategy for Tucson site through key technology vectors, roadmap platforms and investments for both test and validation
- Partner with GDL/TTG/TMG to qualify new unreleased platforms and hardware in support of roadmap updates
- Responsible to drive lab strategies across worldwide development labs in GDL and BU
- Technical and operational lead for test/validation community and influencing across all TI BUs in Tucson (direct collaboration with 4 BUs and 9 PLs)
- Interface with high level leaders to define convergence of lab strategy with production execution goals – fundamental role in helping achieve site wide and TI level priorities
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelors degree in related field
- 5+ years of experience performing in test, validation and/or product
- Passion for making broad impacts across a complex and diverse organization from within a central team and making TI level decisions
- Understanding of semiconductor analog and mixed-signal circuits
- Experience with basic and advanced types of lab equipment
- Data driven decision maker
- Strong system & hardware debugging skills
- Strong people and communications skills
- Forward and big picture thinker that is able to influence others
Preferred qualifications:
- Validation/test methodology expert / technical leader
- Knowledge of Tester Roadmap and selecting instrument configs based on product specifications
- Software and hardware development experience on road mapped platforms (Eagle, V93K, etc.) and/or bench validation
- Ability to establish strong relationships with key stakeholders critical to success, both internally and externally
- Ability to quickly ramp on new systems and processes
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
- Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
- Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery
- Experience sustaining platforms across multiple generations of product families
- 3+ years of experience managing
