Why Battery Charger Products (BCP):
Rechargeable batteries have been around for decades and they continue to see strong growth as the tech industry continues its push to being more environmentally-friendly. Battery charger ICs are key components in these systems and help charge the battery safely and extend the runtime of the end equipment. The markets targeted by BCP products range from Personal Electronics (e.g., earbuds and smartphones), Industrial (e.g., safety-critical medical), and Automotive (e.g., emergency-call).
We are looking for a System Engineer to join our team of trailblazers in bringing state-of-the-art Battery charger ICs to our customers globally. As a member of the systems team, you will work with customers directly on product definition, adoption, and technical support. You will take full ownership of one or more products in the battery charger portfolio to drive customer engagement, solve technical issues and support customer production ramp. You will also be collaborating with our talented field application team and technical sales team to win more sockets and grow revenue.
Responsibilities may include:
- Create new product definitions, including developing business case proposals, product strategies and taking products to production
- Analyze technology future trends, identifying opportunities for improving performance and adding value to customers. Relentlessly drive new design wins for new products.
- Assess and negotiate IC development tradeoffs with design team and customers
- Bring quick resolution during project execution and customer support by interfacing across different functional groups such as design, application, test, validation etc.
- Create technical literature such as datasheets, system spec, validation plan etc.
- Build relationships with customers/field teams by closely interacting with them to identify and solve system problems with TI silicon.
- Support and train central applications engineering and sales organizations on new/existing products.
Minimum requirements:
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering or related field
- 4+ years of experience in power supply related system design: synchronous buck, boost and buck-boost DC-DC
- Strong understanding of analog/mixed-signal IC’s and their application
- Experience promoting/marketing ICs and driving design wins by providing system solutions
- Strong customer facing skills
- Familiarity with lab equipment
Preferred qualifications:
- Fully understand the DC-DC power converter topologies and control architecture of voltage-mode, current mode and constant-on time control DC-DC converters.
- In-depth knowledge of power management products, such as DC-DC converters topologies, linear regulators, battery chargers, battery chemistries, USB handshaking interface, industrial surge standard, and board component selection.
- System level circuit modeling with Matlab, SPICE or Simplis.
- Strong power converter system/apps debug experiences in the lab, and solve customer problems.
- Strong technical spec negotiation with internal and external customers and new product definition skills.
- Proven ability to develop business cases and ability to guide the team and product line for addressing technical challenges for defining innovative and cost effective products.
- Other duties include schematics reviews, PCB layout reviews and support of technical problems that occur during the customers’ product development stages.
