About Texas Instruments

As a global semiconductor company, we design, manufacture, test and sell analog and embedded processing chips to nearly 100,000 customers. Our products enable electronics everywhere and in things you experience every day – from health care, smart homes and connected cars to drones, smart phones and more. Our passion to create a better and more sustainable world by making electronics more affordable through semiconductors drives us to make our technology smaller, more efficient, more reliable and more affordable.

About the position

Today all the talk in the semiconductor industry is about Industry 4.0 and the IoT. More and more parts used in the daily life are becoming “smarter” by the integration of microcontrollers combined with sensors which are the eyes of these new systems and the topic of this work. The field of MEMS (micro-electromechanical systems allows these sensors to become widespread due to low cost integration in silicon CMOS architecture. This internship offers you a chance to work jointly with the TI Kilby Labs and Waferfab, and external parties on a cutting-edge R&D MEMS sensor project, which enables you to practice your out-of-the-box thinking skills and to get out of the comfort zone of your studies.

This is a cumulative internship and thesis offer within our Kilby team. Among the tasks is to gather and analyze characteristics of a novel fluid sensor on package level. You will also characterize and improve existing evaluation modules. These sensors will later be put to use in several applications such as medical diagnostics and environmental measurements.

In your task of bench level test of electrochemical sensors (Characterization Engineer) you will:

·       Define and execute test routines and stress-tests for sensor in package

·       Characterize packaged electrochemical sensors

·       Validate sensor evaluation modules and design new sensor PCBs and modules

·       Document and present the methods and works done

There is a broad field of opportunities in this interdisciplinary project, and you also have the chance to decide what interests you, and autonomously drive to improve.

 Minimum Requirements

  • Currently pursuing Bachelor or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering or related field
  • Minimum Cumulative 2.5 GPA

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in conducting and analyzing (data science) problem-oriented experiments
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in both German and English
  • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
  • Time management skills that enable on-time project delivery
  • Good teamworking skills
  • Hands-on semiconductor validation / lab / bench expertise
  • Basic knowledge in programming, microcontrollers, sensors, and MOSFET level semiconductors
  • Ideally experience in fields of MEMS / lab-on-chip / electrochemistry / biosensors
  • You are a “maker” and do not fear to further your field of expertise

Our offer for you

  • Benefit from an attractive compensation
  • Join an international work environment where your ideas count and where you can thrive in a diverse culture
  • Explore a world of opportunities for your personal and professional development

Texas Instruments is an equal opportunity employer and supports a diverse, inclusive work environment.
