In this system engineer role, you’ll have the chance to:

  • Lead cutting edge R&D projects that have a direct impact on the businesses in TI.  Help imagine, define, create and collaborate with the business groups find high value innovations that solve challenging problems.  
  • Development of highly differentiated power circuits for Power Management Regulators or controllers
  • Competitive benchmarking and tracking latest research in the domain of innovative power management architecture and circuits
  • Balancing innovation with execution – to ensure that the IPs are demonstrated in silicon in a timely manner
  • Working in close collaboration with Process, Packaging, BU partners and other Kilby team members
  • Supporting the technology transfer and productization of the innovative IPs developed by the team
  • Industry champion/liaison of university research projects in the area of power management
  • Interface and lead discussions with the customer and/or TI field sales/field applications teams to understand customer designs, problems and support as required

Minimum requirements: 

  • Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with emphasis on Power Electronic Systems
  • Minimum Cumulative 3.0/4.0 GPA

Preferred qualifications:      

  • Detailed understanding of DC-DC Isolated and non-isolated power converter topologies, soft switching techniques and various control methods.
  • Strong fundamentals in Magnetics design for power converter applications
  • Understanding of mixed signal integrated circuit design targeting power management is a plus
  • Proven track record as a strong team player
  • Expertise on circuit schematic and PCB creation
  • Expertise in designing and analyzing though circuit simulators (like Simplis)
  • Understanding of MOSFET and GaN device operation for switching converter
  • Familiarity with EM simulation software (like HFSS) for magnetics design
  • Microcontroller programming experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated strong intuition for creating new products and solving problems
  • Exceptional creative intuition for power electronics topologies and systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated written communications skills through primary authorship of scientific journal and conference papers
  • Familiar working knowledge of software tools needed for successful power electronics system design: MATLAB, LTSpice, Altium Designer, Ansys Maxwell, PLECS, Simplis

Compensation offered will be based on a variety of factors, including location, education and degree level, the specific experience and skill set of the candidate.The expected compensation range for this role is $125,000 – $175,000.In addition to a competitive total compensation package, TI seeks to provide employees with benefits to help manage their health, save for the future, allow time off to rejuvenate, and to protect against unexpected risks at work or in life.
